Bududa: Confusion as two NRM candidates are declared winners for one post

Residents of Kuushu town council in Bududa district are confused following the declaration of two persons as the NRM flag bearers for one seat in the recently concluded NRM primaries.

The duo Francis Lukoye and Peter Wangale contested for the post of councillor for Ibaale ward in Kuushu Town council and both possess declaration forms as winners.

On September 18, the Bududa district NRM registrar announced Francis Lukoye as the winner after garnering 245 votes in the entire ward beating Peter Wangale with 18 votes who acquired 227.

But a week later, the Bududa NRM assistant Registrar Rogers Kusolo announced Peter Wangale as the winner after he said he allegedly got 288 votes beating Francis Lukoye with 43 who acquired 245 votes.

This has left NRM supporters confused.

Michael Busiku one of the voters said 'two winners' are now confused as to who exactly won the flag.

Wilson Swalikha, another voter, said this is going to cause chaos in the community. He asked the NRM office to explain to the people how they came to choose two people as winners for one ward.

Michael Wanambwa said he is worried that even those who went through may have their victories overturned any time due to the changing wave of trends in the NRM office.

Micheal Wanditi the NRM registrar refuted the declaration form that was issued by his assistant saying that Wangale is the rightful winner.

He said elections in Bududa were peaceful as compared to other places where there was violence and bloodshed.
