He also holds a Master of Science in Statistics, University of Sheffield, UK (1992), a PGD in Pure Science, University of Sheffield, UK (1991) and a Bachelor of Statistics and Applied Economics from Makerere University (1990).

Byamugisha’s professional experience led to the design and implementation of a government of Uganda wide monitoring and reporting system to provide semi-annual and annual reports to Cabinet on government of Uganda’s sector performance and spending.

Other members on the board are; Dr. Joseph Muvawala, Dr. Jacob Opolot, Ms. Rosettte Nakavuma, Mr. Mulengani Bernard, Dr. Wamala Robert and Dr. Chris Ndatira Mukiza, who is an ex-official and executive director of UBOS.

The previous team’s term of tenure expired on June 30, 2020.

UBOS is a semi-autonomous body established by an Act of Parliament (1998) to promote the production of reliable official statistics and ensure the development and maintenance of the National Statistical System.

The Bureau’s core business includes, among others, the production, coordination and dissemination of official statistics to support development processes at local and national government levels.

Cabinet also approved the hosting of the United Nations World Tourism Day 2020, celebrations in Uganda scheduled for 27th September 2020, in Fort Portal City, Kabarole District, Karuzika Palace.

The celebrations will be held under the global theme: “Tourism and Rural Development”.
