New ULS president: "Women have what it takes to lead'

The newly elected president of Uganda Law Society(ULS) Pheona Nabasa Gladys Wall, has said that in her tenure she wants to demonstrate that women can lead the country.

Wall made the remarks while unveiling some of the things she expects to achieve in her tenure as president of Uganda Law Society.

"We have five women and four men on the Uganda Law Society council. Uganda should expect something new. Until women have the power to influence policy,we will not be able to achieve affirmative action,"She said while appearing on NBS TV's Morning Breeze show on Thursday morning.

Wall said she is going to work with the people she defeated adding that Uganda Law Society shouldn't be coloured by political leanings.

"It should be a professional body. Everybody that needs a voice when it comes to justice should get it. We all have a lot of good ideas. I want to work with the people I contested with. Everybody was good,"she noted.

She said in her tenure, ULS should be able to learn and embrace technology.

"I want to be a listening president. I want to be FAT (Faith, Available, and Teachable).I feel the trust of the people and the weight of the responsibility. I believe in systems,"she said.

Wall said that she wants the system that is put in place and can work beyond ya leader saying that there is a powerful system that she intends to work with.

As Uganda Law Society,Wall said they are going to sit down and map ways of ensuring that elections do not destroy this country.
