Total Uganda MD Obi Imemba bids farewell as two-year tenure ends

Total Uganda Managing Director, Obi Imemba has bid farewell after his two-year tenure came to an end.

Speaking at a private farewell dinner attended by a few employees at his home in Kampala on Tuesday evening, Imemba said he will always miss the company he has had in Uganda.

“Times have changed and Covid-19 has affected us but I would have loved to have many people here. This is the place I have enjoyed most in any of my assignments,”Imemba who has worked for Total for over 18 years said.

“I have enjoyed the environment, scenery and nature while here. For the first time, I have enjoyed a true African life and it has been here in Uganda. This place has given me an opportunity to discover Africa.”

Born in Nigeria, Imemba started his career as a Technical Safety engineer when he joined Total in 2002.

Since then, he has worked in various capacities across different countries including Nigeria, Netherlands and France among other countries where Total operates.

Speaking about his spell in Uganda, the outgoing Total Uganda Managing Director said he feels fulfilled for the two years that he said are like five years.

“When I was first told I would be posted in Uganda, neither my family nor myself knew about the country. However, I don’t have any regret for having been brought here. I will always appreciate Total for giving me an opportunity to serve in Uganda.”

He however applauded the company employees for enabling him to accomplish all the work he has touched at Total Uganda.

“What the country has achieved is not a personal accomplishment but has been done in the Total spirit.”
