NC Bank becomes direct collection bank for Umeme

 

NC Bank has been appointed as a direct collection bank for Umeme Limited, the largest electricity distribution company in Uganda.

The bank’s collection platform has been enhanced which means, Umeme customers are now able to make direct payments for a variety of services.

These include; post-paid electricity, pre-paid electricity (Umeme Yaka), and new power connection set-up, among others.

These payments can be made Over-the-Counter through the bank’s branches located at Rwenzori Towers, Village Mall Bugolobi and Market Plaza.

In addition to the branch channel, NC Bank has made the Umeme payment service also available through the bank’s platforms which include; NC Online banking platform, NC NOW mobile app and USSD mobile banking through code *268# for smartphone and feature phone users.

Payments can also be made across the bank’s enhanced Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).

This development follows the completion of system integration between the Bank and Umeme and the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Bank’s Head Office on Thursday ,21st November 2019.

Addressing the media at the press launch, NC Bank’s Executive Director, Mark Muyobo reiterated its commitment to delivering a technology driven One-Stop-Bank concept that will provide secure and convenient payment options for the Bank’s existing and prospective customers.

Muyobo advised that this service complements the bank’s current offering of direct agency services for Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), National Social Security Fund (NSSF), National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) and Mobile Network Operators MTN and Airtel.

On his part, Umeme’s Managing Director, Selestino Babungi, welcomed NC Bank to its panel of direct collecting partners.

“This provides further flexibility for our customers to settle their bills through NC Bank various channels. We will continue to innovate for a greater customer experience," he said.
