Police intercept thief transporting stolen cow in Caldina car, detain cow as thief takes off

Police in Kampala in the wee hours of Thursday intercepted a suspected thief in the areas of Banda during a patrol operation.

According to a statement from the Police Force, while their patrol teams combed the city and its surroundings, they landed on a suspicious Caldina vehicle registration UAL 769W, which they waved down.

The human occupant of the car flung the doors open and sprinted in the dark, leaving the car and its other contents- A cow as it would later be.

Police claim that the occupant had squeezed in a full cow from the back seat to the front and sleeping position.

Police suspect that both the cow and the vehicle could have been stolen.

“Investigations still ongoing to identify the owner of the cow and the owner of the Vehicle which is also suspected to be stolen,” a statement from police reads

“Both the cow and vehicle are currently at Jinja Road Police station,” the statement continues.

In April, Police in Kiboga arrested four suspects in connection to the theft of cattle.

According to ASP Nobert Ochom, Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson, the thugs attacked the home of a widow identified as Makuza Edisa, a resident of  Kalokola village in Bukomero sub-county Kiboga district at 0200hrs on 13th April 2019 and stole 21 heads of cattle.
