UPL: Vipers tame ‘stubborn’ BUL in the top of the table clash

Stubborn Jinja based BUL was at last tamed in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League when they lost to Vipers Sports Club on Tuesday evening.

Prior to the game, BUL had been on steady progress which saw them beat defending champions KCCA FC, 3-0 but Vipers never wasted any time watering down all these achievements.

The Venoms took the lead in the 21st minute through a Frank Tumwesigye’ Zaga’ header off a corner kick by Aziz Kayondo.

The goal set Vipers rolling at the St.Mary’s stadium and it was not long when they took the lead beyond reach five minutes later.

It was a well-taken free-kick from Allan Kayiwa in a distance of about 20 yards that beat the BUL goalkeeper to ensure Vipers were properly in the driving seat.

It was a first-half affair when the stubborn BUL  ensured they got on the score sheet through Deogratious  Ojok who headed home from a James Otim cross.

The first stanza ended 2-1 in favour of the home side and this was all at the St.Mary’s stadium until the final whistle that saw Vipers maintain their unbeaten run as they moved top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.

Vipers have 19 points from 8 games whereas BUL are second, only a point below the table leaders.

Kyetume adds to Proline’s misery

The woes for newly promoted side, Proline FC continued in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League when they suffered another defeat to fellow promoted side, Kyetume FC.

Veteran striker Robert Ssentongo scored the only goal of the game played on Tuesday evening at the Mandela stadium to ensure they piled more misery on the poorly performing Proline who have won only two games this season but ended up being docked six points after failure to honor their fixture against SC Villa.

The win also ensured that who are 7th position on 13 points from 8 games so far they have played.

For Proline is still teetering in the relegation zone with no point collected in the last 8 games.
