Minister to immunize daughter publicly with Measles-Rubella vaccine as gov’t continues fight against negative perception
The health minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng will publicly immunize her daughter as the government continues to fight allegations that the measles-rubella vaccines are dangerous.
According to a statement from the ministry, Dr Aceng will be at Green Hill Academy where her daughter goes to school at 11:00 am to perform the exercise.

“She will later address a press conference at the Ministry of Health headquarters at 2:00 pm in level 4 boardroom to give an update on the Coverage.”
The ministry has recently refuted claims that the vaccines are dangerous to children. Dr. Aceng says that the Measles-Rubella vaccine does not cause Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and there is no link between the vaccines and developing ASD.
“One ingredient that has been studied specifically is thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative used to prevent contamination of multidose vials of vaccines. Research shows that thimerosal does not cause ASD,” Dr. Aceng said in a press statement issued on Tuesday.
“We appeal to all parents that, caretakers and guardians, to take all your children below 15 years of age for immunisation against Measles, Rubella, and Polio during this mass immunisation exercise,” she said, adding that the vaccines have been approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and are therefore safe, free and effective.
