Ekone, Ageno, Lokwameri and Akon join JKL Lady Dolphins

Nkumba Lady Marines star and 2018 WNBL Regular Season MVP, Brenda Ekone, along with UCU Lady Canons stars, Sarah Ageno, Zainah Lokwameri and Rose Akon will join the JKL Lady Dolphins for the 2019 Women's Zone V Club Championships in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

JKL Dolphins Sports Club Head Coach, Henry Malinga is happy with the additions.

"All four are quality players that definitely beef up the team and make us much more competitive," Malinga said, before adding, "I will have the whole team for training starting Monday and we'll work on the finer details."

The team is expected to travel to Tanzania on 15th October by road, to allow them a couple of acclimatization days ahead on the tournament.

The October 21st to 26th tournament, which the Lady Dolphins target to win, will also have their former Head Coach, Mandy Juruni, return to the bench to boost the coaching staff that already has Henry Malinga and Kadipa Kabantu.

Mandy will stay in Dar es Salaam after his exploits with his employers, City Oilers, who will have just concluded their own BAL Qualifiers campaign that's set to happen from 15th to 20th October, also in Dar es Salaam.

Apart from Rose Akon whose scholarship at Uganda Christian University, Mukono is still running, it is expected that all of Ageno, Lokwameri and Ekone will permanently sign with the JKL Lady Dolphins for the 2020 FUBA Women's National Basketball League, duly replacing Jane Asinde, Feza Ebengo and Jamila 'Zama' Nansikombi respectively, who all left the club this season.

This will be the first time JKL Lady Dolphins play at the regional showpiece.
