Former Police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima writes book on parenting

The former police spokesperson Emilian Kayima has launched a book titled “Raising Great Children” which describes how best parents can raise their children.

The book is authored both in English and Luganda.

During the launch of the book on Friday, Kayima, urged parents to take the responsibility of raising children as a serious issue before they leave this world.

He noted that sometimes parents forget to put time and effort into nurturing another component of child success and development.

He said although there are many challenge faced by parents in nurturing their children, this is the right time for every parent to come out and raise his or her child responsibly without hesitation.

He urged parent not ignore their roles in up bringing well disciplined children before it is too late.

“We can be faced with many challenges but we need to act before it is too late. We never know what can happen tomorrow," he said.

The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga, who was the chief guest, urged parents not to neglect their parenting obligations.

He noted that it is easy to forget the importance of countering pervasive messages of instant gratification, consumerism and selfishness prevalent in the society.

He urged parents to raise children who are pleasant company and genuinely nice people by guiding them towards habit and behaviours that promote positive character like kindness, generosity, empathy among others.

He also encouraged educated people to write books which will help guide the future generation.

“Writing is very difficult task because you need to create time to make sure that you do it perfectly,” he noted.

Asan Kasingye, the political commissar of Uganda Police described Kayima has an officer full of humility with high sense of integrity.
