The money match: KCCA FC a win away from lucrative CAF champions league group stages

KCCA FC will this evening take on Angola's Petro de Luanda in the 2nd leg of the CAF champions league first round at the star times stadium in Lugogo, in a game that will be televised live on Sanyuka TV.

This will be KCCA FC’S 30th game on the continent under tactician Mike Hillary Mutebi. KCCA FC has won 13, lost 13 and has drawn thrice.

The Lugogo based side has never lost a continental game at their home ground and the last time they failed to collect maximum points at the startimes Stadium Lugogo was on 13th/03/2017 when they were held to 1-1 draw by Mamelodi Sundowns.

The first leg between the two sides ended goalless in the Angolan capital a fortnight ago.

KCCA FC tactician Mike Mutebi believes today’s game will be exciting, given the fact that both teams want goals, but also says he has enough to get a win.

“It is going to be an exciting game because We are playing a  team that knows how to use the ball is very well which will enable us play our way, both teams wants to go forward and be surprised if the game ends 4-2.  We have an advantage because we are at home and I think I have enough to negotiate a win,”the gaffer said.

Petro De luanda’s tactician Tony Cosana expects a tough task ahead, citing a young experienced KCCA FC squad but hopes for positive results at the Startimes stadium.

“When we played KCCA FC at home, I saw a young experienced squad which makes today’s game tough, the goalless draw back at home was good and we came here to play and make sure we win and qualify to the group stages.

The players from both sides to weighed in on the game.

KCCA FC’s number one and Skipper Charles Lukwago highlighted the importance of making it to the group stages.

“Our target is to get into the CAF champions league group stages no matter how many goals we concede, today's game is a must win given that all players are in good shape and our coaches have trained us enough,” KCCA FC’s Captain Chalres Lukwago said

“Like KCCA FC’S coach said, we know how to use the ball and our hosts too know how to play so its going to be a tough one, we expect to score more goals and play for a win to see us to the next round,” Petro De Luanda’s Centre Back Inusa Musa said.

KCCA FC will be without Saddam Juma, Julius Poloto and Hassan Jurua who are injured, and new signings John Revita, Erisa Sekisambu, Keziron Kizito and Ghanaian John Egbuonu Odumegwu are ineligible to play since they have no CAF License.

The winner between the two sides will seal a slot in the lucrative group stages of the biggest club football show piece on the continent while the loser will be relegated to the CAF Confederations cup.
