Cabinet approves National Alcohol Control Policy

Cabinet on Monday, September 23, approved the National Alcohol Control Policy, Nile Post has confirmed.

The National Alcohol Control Policy aims to raise community awareness about the magnitude and determinants of the health, social and economic problems associated with harmful use of alcohol.

The policy was passed during the cabinet meeting at that sat at State House, Entebbe on Monday afternoon.

According to a statement released by the Uganda Media Center boss Ofwono Opondo, the policy also demonstrates the government's commitment to address the alcohol related harm using effective evidence based intervention.

Government also intends to strengthen regulation on production, packaging, distribution, marketing, sale and consumption of all alcohol beverages.

At the same sitting, cabinet also noted the impact of Corporate Income Tax Waiver and Refinancing of the Bujagali Hydro Electricity Power Project on the end user tariff.

A Surveyors Registration Board was approved and appointed with Judy Rugasira as the Chairperson. She will be deputised by Dr. Moses Musinguzi as the Vice Chairperson.

The approved board was tasked to regulate and control the Profession of Surveyors and all activities of Registered Surveyors within Uganda.
