Kadaga asks Rugunda to clarify on Gen Kayihura's fate after US sanctions

The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has told the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda to explain the repercussions of the sanctions United States imposed on former police chief Gen. Kale Kayihura together with his family.

This comes after some legislators raised a matter of concern on the continued silence of government since the US issued strong sanctions against Kayihura .

Buhweju County MP Francis Mwijukye tasked government to explain the repercussions of the U.S sanctions on the former Inspector general of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura and on our relationship with Washington.

Mwijukye together with other legislators argued that it’s unfortunate that government had decided to keep quiet when one of its dedicated cadres is facing sanctions.

Mwijukye reminded those holding security offices to be careful  and learn from Kayihura's experience.

Some MPs from Kisoro, where Kayihura hails from, said the sanctions are aimed at witch hunting Kayihura.

This compelled Kadaga to summon the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda to explain whether there are repercussions from the sanctions America imposed on Kayihura together and his family.
