Centenary bank speaks out on incident where a trailer rammed into their branch in Bugiri

Centenary Bank  has cleared the air following an incident in which a trailer rammed into their branch in Bugiri on Monday morning.

The incident that happened at around 4am saw the driver of the trailer, registration number UBD 091C/UBD 669H lose control and ram into a building housing the bank branch at  Grant Street, along the Iganga-Tororo Highway destroying the waiting area and cash tills among other property.

In a statement released by Beatrice Lugalambi, the Centenary Bank General Manager in charge of Corporate Communications and Marketing, there was temporary disruption of their services.

“The incident did not cause harm to any of our customers, or staff as the bank was closed. All our personnel are safe and accounted for including the security team on duty at the branch at the time,”Lugalambi said.

“Our bank is taking all the necessary steps within the constraints of time and safety to ensure Bugiri branch resumes as soon as possible.”

The bank spokesperson said some of their Cente agents have been stationed at the branch and these she said will help offer services to their customers.

“We encourage our customers in Bugiri to access service through our alternative channels including Cente Mobile, Agent Banking, Cente Voucher, online banking and Cente Visa. We regret any inconvenience caused as a result of the disruption.”
