Government says Industrialisation, infrastructure development to remain key drivers of Vision 2040

Government has maintained that industrialisation, infrastructural development and wealth creation will remain strategic drivers of Vision 2040, and that adequate resources will be diverted to these areas.

This was revealed by the Vice President Edward Ssekandi during the government's annual performance assessment report for the financial year 2018/2019 at the Office of the Prime Minister.

Despite numerous bottlenecks that have hampered the achievement of some set targets last financial year, government said there have been increase in investments, improved livelihood and an improvement in the performance of the economy.

Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda acknowledged that there are complaints from local government leaders about inadequate funding, poor road network, high electricity tariffs and a broken health care system.

He said these greatly affect the performance of local governments and their contribution to the central government.
