Janet Museveni says education sector is on the right track

The minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataha Museveni has asked the public to realize the need to look out for the relevant skills required to prepare learners for productive and gainful employment.

She made the remarks while officially opening the 26th Education and Sports Sector Review held under the “theme enhancing learning achievements for productivity and prosperity”

She noted the parents are the key stakeholders and they should support the education of their children.

She said without support from the public, expecting quality education will be a nightmare.

She said that the ministry is focusing on providing quality education.

“The ministry completed the construction of 588 classrooms in 84 schools, 84 administration blocks, 34 latrines block for five stances each and 42 latrines for 2 stances each,” she said.

She said that 84 water harvesting tanks have been constructed in 84 public primary schools across the country.

She said that several tertiary institutions had received international certification including the Uganda Petroleum Institute in Kigumba.

The permanent secretary in the ministry Alex Kakooza reported that the ministry had completed several civil works in 84 primary schools in different districts across the country.

Some of the districts include Mityana, Lyantonde, Butaleja, Nakaseke, Rakai, Mitooma among others.
