From the Startimes Uganda Premier League, to the English Premier League, Sanyuka TV is fulfilling the promise

Two weeks ago when Next Media Services announced that Sanyuka TV had acquired rights to broadcast the English premier league, my phone wash awash with calls from people both known and unknown to me. The common question they asked was which kind of games we would be bringing to our viewers every Saturday, and my simple answer to each one of them was, THE BEST GAME!

Now, in football, just like it is generally in life, best can be subjective. But in this part of the world, (Uganda), any English premier league game involving any of the ‘traditional’ clubs (Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Cheslea, Manchester City) fits the description of the best or at least one of the best games of the day. And this is exactly what we chose to bring to our viewers.

Just to make a note, just under a year ago when Sanyuka TV’s General Manager Joseph Kigozi announced that we were the ‘home of sport’, many probably did not imagine to what degree, Sanyuka TV was going to be THE HOME OF SPORT!

Mr. Kigozi’s words did not come haphazardly or out of excitement. There was a well researched and calculated plan embedded behind each of his statements, and a huge one at that.

Behind closed doors, Next Media Services was making mega investments in production equipment but also in buying rights to some of the most popular sports products in the market. Those inside the Media plaza on Kira Road, can attest to how the top management would be seen dashing from one boardroom to another like mad men, in meetings with whoever they had to talk to fulfil their promise.

To the public, the Startimes Uganda premier league was all we had, and a lot was invested in bringing it to the viewers in the best possible way for the good of Ugandan football, but this was not all. Our promise was to satisfy the ordinary Ugandan and give them a full sports experience like never before in the cheapest possible way.

With the local top tier in can, we realised that the ordinary Ugandan who loves our league also has a second love, The English Premier league, and it upon us to cater for this as well, remember, we had made a promise.

We took a deliberate decision to satisfy this Ugandan who after watching beloved KCCA FC taking on Wakiso Giants on the 31st of August live from the startimes stadium in Lugogo, will also want to witness, live from the Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard labour against minnows Sheffield United in search for his first win as Chelsea boss, without having to switch channels or pay extra subscription.

This is why the management decided to bring it all to our viewers at no extra cost. Every Saturday, immediately after the Live Televised Startimes Uganda premier league game, (That will start at 3:00pm), we shall have an English premier league game live.

Sanyuka TV takes a ‘viewer-first’ approach in the things it does. We know that our viewers want to enjoy football while getting on with their daily work that puts food on their table. We are also aware that it would be difficult say, for a shopkeeper in Kikuubo to listen attentively to Peter Drury of Jon Champion’s commentary yet they have to attend to customers. So we decided to simplify life for them. This season, we shall bring every game to you live in the local language (Luganda) so that there is no need to strain as you multi task.

In what feels like a match made in heaven, Martin Kaddu and Micheal Kigozi will team up to for the commentary every weekend, while seasoned host Baker Kigongo and Dzyre Derreckford Mugumisa will be in studio for a comprehensive build up at least 15 minutes’ minutes to kick off.

Again, we know that our Ugandan audiences, just like we do, love to see beautiful and appealing things on their screens. This is why we invested in a modern studio.

This Saturday the 24th of August, Sanyuka TV will take you live to old Trafford for the biggest match of the weekend as Manchester united defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka takes on his former employers Crystal Palace for the first time since crossing from Selhurst Park.

It will be a case of 4th against 14th on match day three of England’s top flight. Expect the best analysis, and surreal luganda word play from the commentary duo of Micheal Kigozi and Martin Kaddu, who are fast becoming word smiths in the ‘Kabaka’s’ language.

And this is not all, Sanyuka TV has much more tailored for its audience’s satisfaction in both sports and entertainment. Like we have already proved in the past months, with live coverages of boxing and kickboxing bouts, Motor Sport and entertainment events such as ‘Tondeka Ebusaabala Concert’ and the Bell Jamz that will take place tonight (Friday 23rd August 2019), among other majore events, there is more we are bringing to the comfort of wherever it is that you watch from, all in fulfilment of our promise to be the HOME OF SPORT AND ENTERTAINMENT!
