Vipers SC unveil players, technical team, ahead of 2019/20 SUPL season

Vipers SC on Tuesday,  July 30th unveiled their new players and technical team who will take the club through the  2019/20 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.

The senior team players unveiled are Rashid Toha from Onduparaka FC, Siraje Sentamu returning from URA FC, Midfielder  Frank “Zaga” Tumwesige returning from Express FC, Allan Kayiwa signed from Tooro United, Paul Willa from Police FC, Denis Mwemezi who played for the Ssese ssaza in the Masaza Cup and Henry Kitegenyi from Kansai Plascon.

Also among the unveiled before the media at the St. Mary's Stadium Press Room in Kitende, six were promoted from the team's soccer academy.

These include Jacob Okao, Ahmed Amayo, Dennis Kiggundu, Abdul-Karim Watambala, Richard Basangwa and Najib Iga.

While addressing the press, Vipers SC president, Lawrence Mulindwa, expressed gratitude on the promotion of players from the junior side.

“I  am happy that this time we have players who have been promoted from the academy to the senior team because the future of Vipers entirely depends on that," said Mulindwa. "We shall reach a time when 90% of our team depends on them because I believe we have enough resources to prepare players such as a school, accommodation, the right coaches and infrastructure for them to become fully professional players," Dr. Mulindwa, also proprietor of St. Mary's College, Kisubi.

The technical team, made up of Head Coach Edward Golola, his assistant, Wasswa Richard, trainer Edward Ssali and Physioptherapist Mathias Kassaga was also revealed to the media.

The Club President believes these are the right people to move the club forward.

“Wasswa and Golola have been with us for over 15 years, despite one having been with the youth side," the joyous Mulindwa said, adding, "Sometimes we have let them go but because of the belief they have in our club, we have given them permanent contracts because they know us very well and we want to develop; I believe they are the right people for this job."

The club also unveiled a Scania 42-seater bus, with the president saying it will help improve the quality of transportation the players and technical team get, as well as continue on the path towards professionalizing the club.

Vipers will play against Proline FC in the Pilsner Super 8 on Wednesday 31st July, at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.
