Mirundi: Besigye is irrelevant now, what will he do that he hasn’t yet?
Presidential advisor on media issues, Joseph Tamale Mirundi has claimed that opposition strongman and former presidential contestant, Dr. Kizza Besigye has lost the national appeal and should give way for another politician to be the face of opposition.
Besigye came to the limelight in the early ’90s when he founded the reform agenda, which would later turn into the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party. He went ahead to compete with President Museveni in 2001 and the consequent elections after that but lost to Museveni.

Speaking during his one on one show on NBS TV, Mirundi alleged that Besigye is only leading a disgruntled group under the umbrella of people’s government.
“Besigye is like a woman who produced twins, they died and he is now carrying dolls in denial. The People’s government is useless, what is Besigye going to do that he has never done?” Mirundi said.
He lambasted the People’s government for mocking parliament during their recent ‘state of the people’s address’ when they held their own parliament session.
“What are they going to implement? The issue is implementation. Besigye is now a political problem in Uganda, he has failed to realize when it is right to leave the stage,” he added.
