Uganda Airlines finally granted Air Operating Certificate
Uganda National Airlines Company Limited has finally been issued with an Air Operator Certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority.
The renewable licence was issued on July 26, 2019 and will expire on July 25, 2020.

“This is the biggest milestone in operationalising our commercial flights,” the national carrier posted on its twitter.
The Ministry of Works and Transport said this was a result of the tiresome work that saw them complete the five phase certification process.
“The airline can now embark on completing the testing of the system interfaces, obtain permissions and finalize flight timetables and slots to destinations countries,” the Works ministry tweeted.
Government recently announced it had postponed the Uganda Airlines maiden flight from July 31 to the end of August due to a delay in acquiring the Air Operator Certification (AOC), which allows any aircraft operator to fly commercially.
However, after issuance of the Air Operator Certificate, the national carrier is free to start making commercial flights any time from now.
Addressing journalists last week, the Works Minister, Eng. Monica Ntege Azuba said Uganda Airlines will carry staff and service providers on its maiden commercial flight to three regional destinations including Nairobi, Dar Es Salaam, and Mogadishu.
“These destinations shall be operated first to orient staff and service providers in the Uganda Airlines procedures and standards,” Azuba said.
The national carrier last week made test flights to Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam.
