Edward Golola has returned to Kitende based Vipers Sports Club for a third stint, the Nile Post has learnt.
Last week, the three-time Uganda Premier League champions announced the sacking of the entire technical staff, Golola inclusive.
However, barely a week after the sacking, Golola was announced as the team’s head coach on Saturday afternoon.
“Vipers Sports Club is delighted to announce Edward Golola as new head coach,” the club announced in a statement.
The club president, Dr.Lawrence Mulindwa also confirmed the new development to the players.
“As the executive, we can confirm Edward Golola as our next coach and we will give him all the support he needs this season,”Mulindwa told the players.
In his words, Golola expressed gratitude for the team that has seen grow from its infancy to where it is.
This is the third time Golola is returning to Kitende having been influential in all the three league titles that Vipers SC has, with two coming when he was the head coach (2009/10 and 2014/15) and the other as an assistant to Miguel Da Costa in 2017.
Golola will be deputised by Richard Wasswa, who also returns to the club for his third spell.
The technical team that was dissolved last week has also been reappointed with Ram Nyakana Mpuga as the fitness coach Edward Ssali as second assistant coach, Mathius Kassagga (physiotherapist) and Moses Oloya as goalkeeping coach.
Their first task will be guiding the team in the Pilsner Super 8 tournament that gets underway in a weeks -time.
