Uganda is truly the Pearl of Africa - Miss World

Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de Leon, has praised Uganda saying that it's truly the Pearl of Africa.

The Mexican queen touched down at Entebbe yesterday (Tuesday) flanked by Miss World franchise Chief Executive Officer Julia Morley.

They were welcomed by Quiin Abenakyo and Miss Uganda franchise boss Brenda Nanyonjo at around 2pm.

They later addressed the press at around 6pm where Miss World (Ponce) told the media that Uganda is truly the Pearl of Africa.

She said that she had not read so much about Uganda but Quiin Abenakyo had told her so much about the country even before coming in.

"My sister (Quiin) had told me so much about Uganda and how it's the Pearl of Africa. It has been a few hours here but I am already loving it. The people are so welcome, the food is amazing and its truly the Pearl of Africa. I can't wait to meet more people," Ponce said in part.

Miss Uganda boss Nanyonjo thanked the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and all the partners that made this possible.

"Miss World comes at a time when UTB has invested a lot in making Uganda a tourist destination and this is a step in the right direction," Nanyonjo said.

Miss world was later hosted to a dinner at Sheraton Hotel's Victoria Hall where all stakeholders of the Miss Uganda franchise met to welcome her.

She is expected to visit State House to meet President Museveni and take a tour around Uganda courtesy of Uganda Tourism Board.

She will finally crown her stay with a special guest appearance at the Miss Uganda grand finale on Friday, July 26 2019.
