Cranes begin training for 2020 CHAN qualifiers

Interim Uganda Cranes head coach Abdallah Mubiru has started work with some of his summoned players ahead of the 2020 CHAN qualifier against Somalia later this month.

16 of the 30 started training at the Startimes stadium in Lugogo under the guidance of interim Mubiru together team manager and former cranes skipper Geoffrey Massa.

Notable among the absentees were the seven KCCA FC players who are participating in the ongoing CECAFA championships in Rwanda, like Allan Okello and Mustafa Kizza plus, AFCON stars, Henry Kaddu, Tadeo Lwanga, Allan Kyambadde and Timothy Awany.

But to those who attended, the determination to impress their gaffer was evident.

Mubiru says, the focus is to fine tune the players to the international level.

“The art of wining possession its what we are working on and we will concentrate more on the art of penetrating the final third and finishing , because in the cosafa championships that were held in south Africa we created many chances but couldn’t convert them into goals and also tuning the players to an international level and limit the reckless mistakes will be our focus. “

The Uganda Cranes squad will continue with non residential training until Wednesday the 17th/ 07 and they are expected to enter residential camp on Thursday the 18/07/2019 as they continue shaping for the first leg against Somalia in the CHAN 2020 qualifiers on the 27th of this month.
