VIDEO: DP unveils musicians Chameleone, Pallaso as its new party members, eye Kampala mayor seat

The Democratic Party (DP) has unveiled local musicians Joseph Mayanya aka Jose Chameleone and his brother Pius Mayanja aka Pallaso as its newest party members.

The unveiling ceremony took place at the Sharing Hall in Nsambya this afternoon.

While addressing journalists on Tuesday, DP Chairman Nobert Mao said that DP has started to attract popular people and the doors are open for everyone to join them.

"The party has started attracting popular people. Our party is a big one. We call it a big tent party. We have many doors and you can enter from any of them. We call upon everyone who had been jailed in other political parties to join us (In DP), Mao said.

He added that Chameleon's father, Mayanja, Mzee Emmanuel Mayanja, was very pleased to know that his son, Chameleon was joining the party of his forefathers.

"We are going to welcome Joseph Mayanja who is back home. I have been informed that his father, Mayanja Senior, was so happy to hear that his son was back in the party of his forefathers,"

"Chameleone broke the jail. We call upon everyone to see the light and join us. We confirm that the big players should not fear to join DP, we will give everyone a role to play," Mao added.

While speaking to NBS Television earlier today, Kalungu County West MP Joseph Sewungu that no body will beat President Museveni in the upcoming 2021 general elections without getting his people on the opposition side.

He said that Chameleone comes with a lot of good will to the Democratic Party and with such popular people now joining the DP, Museveni stands no chance in 2021.

We are excited to receive Chameleone. The ideas he's going to give us. It's their time now. We have Bobi Wine, now Chameleon and many others that are coming. How will Museveni survive us?" Sewungu asked.

Chameleon ecame out and declared that he had joined DP/People Power during DP-UYD re-union meeting that was held at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja district last month.

Chameleone has expressed interest in contesting for the Kampala mayor seat currently head by estranged DP member Erias Lukwago.
