Dr Stella Nyanzi ruling set for October 16

MUHAMAD MATOVU

The ruling in the case in which Dr Stella Nyanzi appealed to Makerere University Staff Appeals Tribunal protesting her sacking from the university will be delivered on October 16, 2019.

Through her lawyer Isaac Ssemakadde Dr Nyanzi protests the decision of the appointment board to sack her in her absentia without giving her a fair hearing.

Nyanzi also indicates that the appointments board unlawfully and unjustifiably acted in the contempt of the earlier decision of the staff appeal tribunal of December 3 2018.

Ssemakadde contends that the decision in dispute is wholly unfounded and inconsistent with the decision making history of the appointment board.

They want court to direct the appointment board to implement the order of the staff tribunal ,reinstate the applicant, pay all her monuments, promotion in office, payment worth 750 million and impunity damages of Shs 250 million.

Nyanzi is currently on remand on charges of cyber harassment and offensive communication for allegedly insulting President Museveni's mother Esteri Kokundeka on Facebook.

The High court set the ruling on October 16 2019.
