Vehicle torched by an angry mob in Kasese

A white Toyota Premio reg. number UAA 180J was last night torched by angry boda boda cyclists in Kasese municipality after its driver knocked dead yet an unidentified man.

The cylists followed the car from the spot at which it knocked until the driver lost control, hit a hump and drove into a culvert.

The driver later took off leaving the vehicle behind. They then torched the vehicle.

According to Baluku Wilson an eye witness, the deceased who looked drunk, had been playing in front of a bus when the small car emerged from nowhere and hit him.

The Public Relations Officer Kasese Central Police, Vincent Twesige, confirmed the incident and condemned the act of mob justice.

He added that the deceased was was not found with any document to identify him therefore urged members of the public to move with their identification documentation.

Dan Muhindo a student pursuing law, attributed the incident to drug abuse an act which he believes is rampant in Kasese.

Muhindo said the responsible stakeholders should come in immediately to curb the vice of drug abuse otherwise it’s increasing at a high rate.

The owner of the vehicle has not yet been established.
