Hazard inspired Chelsea thump sorry Arsenal to claim Europa league title

Eden Hazard's stellar performance made the difference as Chelsea came out on top in an all English Europa League Final last night in Azerbaijan's capital, Baku.

Chelsea thumped their archrivals 4 - 1 to end a troubled season with silverware.

Arsenal failed to make something out of their first half chances where they looked threatening on the attack and Chelsea came back stronger in the second half with former Arsenal forward and French International, Olivier Giroud breaking the deadlock with a fine - low header in the 49th minute.

At the hour mark, former Barcelona forward, Pedro Rodriguez netted Chelsea's second of the night from an Eden Hazard cross to become the only player to have scored in a Champions League final, European Super Cup and a Europa League final.

Five minutes later, Eden Hazard scored from a penalty spot to make it 3-0 after Maitland Niles brought down Olivier Giroud in the penalty area.

Nigerian International Alex Iwobi came off the bench to score a curler from a dead ball to give Arsenal some hope of a comeback before Eden Hazard quickly firing home Chelsea's fourth in the 72nd minute to seal the game.

Asked after the game if this could have been his last game for the South West Londoners, Eden Hazard used the chance to grab headlines when he said that it is more likely to be a good bye performance and his decision has already been made.

With almost seven years at Chelsea, Eden Hazard is currently linked to a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the summer. Media reports in England revealed that Real Madrid has tabled £115 million to sign him.

Despite ending his first season with a European triumph, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri's future at the club remains to under doubt.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery who has won this competition thrice with Sevilla could do very little to stop an attacking Chelsea side.

Arsenal's goalkeeper Petr Cech played his last professional game against his former side as the goal keeper announced earlier in the season that he will be retiring at the end of the season.

Cech has made 139 appearances for Arsenal and 494 professional appearances for Chelsea.
