Proline beat Bright Stars to win Uganda Cup, complete season double

Lugogo based Proline Football Club on Saturday beat Uganda Premier League side Bright Stars to lift their first ever Uganda Cup in a game played at the Masaka Recreation grounds.

The Mwererwe based side took the lead only two minutes after recess, off a skipper Nelson Ssenkatuuka curling freekick but Proline scored a last minute penalty.

A Mustafa Mujjuzi 90th minute equalizer sent both teams for penalty kicks that were eventually won by Proline.

In the spotkicks, Bright Anukani, Allan Egaku, Ivan Boogere, Hakim Kiwanuka and Mustafa Mujjuzi converted their kicks but goal hero Nelson Ssenkatuuka turned villain when his kick was stopped by the Proline goalkeeper.

The win ensured Proline complete a season double, having earlier lifted the FUFA Big League title after a narrow win against moneybags, Wakiso Giants in finals at Lugogo.

The Lugogo based side have now won their maiden Uganda Cup trophy and will represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Individual awards.
