KABAHENDA BRIDGET

As the country continues to suffer from the effects of global warming, the king of Tooro Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV has launched a tree planting campaign to minimise the effects.

Under the five year tree planting campaign, the kingdom targets planting 10 million trees with two million trees planted every year.

According to the king with increased massive destruction of natural resources, the environment is at risk if not safeguarded against the negative effects of global warming.

The initiative is aimed at protecting the environment.

Oyo has partnered with the Rotary club of Muyenga with whom the kingdom signed a memorandum of understanding to take up the health and environment aspects to the next level.

The club also recognised the king with a vocational award for being a good youth ambassador in the fight against HIV/ AIDS.
