The People Power pressure group candidate in the Gulu University guild elections has gone to court seeking an interim injunction to halt the elections until his case is heard.

Imuran Ntambazi Java, who claimed was blessed by singer and legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, to stand on the People Power ticket was last month kicked out of the race and blocked from nominations.

According to the University Dean Christopher Mpora, this was done because no student is allowed affiliation to a political party during guild campaigns and elections.

Ntambazi, a second year student of computer science now wants court to compel the university to nominate him.

The High Court in Gulu has set the hearing of the case to April 3rd, after which if positive, there will be no guild elections which have been slated for Sunday April 7.

Those already nominated nominated are; Alexander Okidi, Samuel Oyet Agwani, Johnson Nowe, and Moses Etyak.

In the recently concluded Guild Elections at Kyambogo University, Jonathan Tundulu vying on the people power ticket defeated 12 candidates in the race to become guild president.

Tundulu obtained 2789 to beat FDC’s Atto Sebbi Juma who tallied 2634 votes.
