Besigye: "Divisions in the opposition are created by Museveni"

AMBROSE MUHUMUZA

FDC strong man, Col Dr Kizza Besigye, has attributed the ongoing fights amongst the opposition

parties to President Museveni whom he said had applied four major factors to suppress them: divide and

rule, patronage, control of information and spreading propaganda.

While addressing the inter-university FDC chapters from western region over the weekend, Besigye said the fights and conflicts within the opposition parties have been entirely brought about by the NRM government.

Besigye said the NRM is using the divide and rule method, spreading propaganda and patronage to create an image of a divided opposition.

"They spread propaganda because they do not want to see the opposition united. As young people you should not fall for this propaganda," Besigye said.

He said some opposition leaders who have attacked him do not know that they are also hostage to the regime. He said all opposition forces must fight together to get out of what he called "regime bondage."

He advised the students to stay focused instead of fighting one another, to expel fear out of them and to unite if they are to defeat what he termed as a bad regime.

He urged them to form strong groups a basis to fight for their rights.

Patrick Amuriat Oboi the FDC party president said they are more than ready to protect every FDC

supporter in the country from any attack.

Amuriat attacked some unscrupulous individuals who recently attacked Besigye after a radio show.

He said this was an unfortunate incident that was spearheaded by some of their opposition colleagues.

Amuriat later launched the Kampala University FDC Chapter which he challenged to gather more

students to support their party without fear or intimidation from the regime.
