Nigerian star Burna Boy set to perform in Kampala on Friday

Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and songwriter Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burnaboy will be performing in Kampala this Friday, March 22. Burnaboy's concert will be held at Sheraton Gardens.

Burna Boy confirmed his Ugandan performance in an Instagram post in February 2019. The announcement came after a vigrous social media campaign by Burna Boy's Ugandan fans asking when he would perform in Kampala. The campaign was most visible on the Twitter platform.

The Nigeria based singer initially expressed interest in music at 10yrs ago when a friend gave him a copy of Fruity Loops software and started making his own beats.

He has had a stellar roster of bangers since his inception in the music industry in 2012 and hasn’t looked back since. He rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing the lead single "Like to Party" from his debut studio album, L.I.F.E (2013).

On 31 May 2012, Burna Boy released "Like To Party" as the lead single from his debut album L.I.F.E The song became a big hit. The album itself came out on 12 August 2013.

He released his second album On a Spaceship on 25 November 2015. In September 2016, he released the 7-track EP titled Redemption, with the lead single "Pree Me" debuting on Noisey

On 7 October 2018, Burna Boy performed before a sold-out crowd at London's O2 Academy Brixton. A day prior to the show, he held a pop-up event at Red by Little Farm and sold limited boxes of his Space Puffs cereal, as well as custom notepads, lighters and graphics tee-shirts. On 9 October 2018, Burna Boy was announced as one of Spotify's New Afro Hub Takeover Artist. The announcement coincided with him being named YouTube's Artist on the Rise for 3 months.

On 3 January 2019, he was announced alongside Mr Eazi, as one of the artists performing at the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. He won four awards at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, including African Artiste of the Year, Listener's Choice and Best Male MVP.
