Big League side Proline ejects top tier giants Vipers SC out of the Uganda Cup

Proline FC has knocked last season’s losing finalists Vipers SC out of the Uganda Cup in a mouth watering 2-1 victory at the startimes stadium in Lugogo.

Noordin Bunjo drew first blood for the hosts in the 24th minute slotting home from an Ibrahim Wammanah’s assist. Micheal Nam Ouma’s Venoms tried to fight back but were denied a leveller until as it stayed 1-0 at the interval.

In the 74th minute of second stanza, Venoms captain Tadeo Lwanga restore parity which was maintained till the 90th minute. The game went into extra time.

In the 114th minute, Ibrahim Bonyo was the hero for Shafiq Bisaso’s hosts as he headed home to eject the venoms and send his side to the semi finals for the second time in the club’s history.

Proline’s coach Bisaso speaking after the win said his team had no pressure thus the win.

“Vipers had pressure and maybe undermined us, they thought maybe we are a weak team but we managed to bring out a good performance against them. I expect to play a good team just like the ones we have been playing but we have no pressure at all, we want the trophy but our main focus is coming back to the Uganda premier league,” said Shafiq Bisaso.

His opposite number Micheal Nam Ouma rued his side’s missed chances.

“We didn’t convert our chances, our opponents did and had the advantage over us,”

Proline now joins 10 time winners Express FC, Bright stars, and Kyetume FC in the last four of Uganda’s oldest football competition.

This is the second time Proline reaches the semi final of the tournament the last being in 2007 when they lost to Police FC in the quarter final stage but were dumped out by Kirinya. By then they were playing in the first division.
