VIDEO: Besigye says it's Abed Bwanika who is working for Museveni

Dr Kizza Besigye, the former FDC leader has in an unprecedented move attacked Dr Abed Bwanika, the leader of People's Development Party, claiming that he was working for President Museveni.

Besigye who is usually cautious not to attack individual political players, except President Museveni, told a gathering of people in Mayuge on Saturday that Bwanika had for a long time worked citing the 2006 Supreme Court case where Bwanika swore an affidavit affirming Museveni's victory.

"Abed Bwanika in 2006 was a candidate in rigged elections. He swore an affidavit in favour of Museveni saying the rigged election was free and fair, that our evidence in court of intimidating, threatening and killing my supporters; ballot stuffing; altering and falsifying results were untrue. Even when all judges unanimously agreed the election was not free and fair, Bwanika, as a candidate declared, by way of signing an affidavit that Museveni had won freely and fairly. Bwanika and myself. Who supports or works Museveni?" Besigye queried.

The attack comes after Besigye was nearly manhandled by a group of rowdy youth outside Bulange on Saturday after he appeared on a radio talk show.

Fingers have been pointed at supporters of the People Power pressure group but its leader, Robert Kyagulanyi has come out to condemn the incident.

On radio and TV talk-shows, Bwanika has been attacking Besigye, saying he needs to leave the stage for another person.

He has also claimed that there is some kind of "game" between Besigye and Museveni to remain the two main political actors on the scene.

In Mayuge where he had gone to attend a district assembly under the banner of People's Government,  Besigye turned the guns against Bwanika.

Besigye also trashed reports that he had benefited financially from the struggle.

"Some people say, I organise demonstrations such that I can take photos of people being beaten and show them to donors who then give me money. If that is true, then let someone also do the same..." Besigye said.

Dr Besigye broke onto the political scene in 2001 and has contested, unsuccessfully, four times against President Museveni.
