FDC divided over fate of 'rebel' MPs

RICHARD OLWENYI

The Forum for Democratic Change top leadership is divided over the fate of the party rebel MPs suspected to subscribe to Gen. Mugisha Muntu’s pressure group New Formation.

The party's secretary general Nandala Mafabi believes the rebel legislators should be dragged to court for failing to make their monthly contributions to the party.

He accused MPs Winnie Kiiza, Robert Centenary and Paul Mwiru of subscribing to both New Formation and FDC and have thus failed to contribute to the party.

Each MP is required to contribute at least 500,000 per month to the running of the party.

However Patrick Amuriat urged the FDC leadership to go slow on erasing the membership of the rebel legislators pending their formal resignation.

Wasswa Birigwa, the national chairman of FDC said they should front other candidates against the rebel legislators after they failed to respond to the party roll call.
