VIDEO: Those who think Bobi Wine can lead this country are mad- Nagenda

Featured

The Senior Media advisor to President Museveni, John Nagenda has declared mad, all people holding the idea that Self proclaimed Gheto President, singer and Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has any capabilities of leading Uganda.

Nagenda was speaking to NBS TV during a a topical discussion with Simon Kaggwa Njala on Sunday morning.

Nagenda who was clear that Museveni’s time to go has come, said he would be so disappointed if Museveni stood again in the next elections. He said it would be important if Museveni used the remaining three years to pick a successor to ensure a smooth transition.

“I am with those who think he (Museveni) should go. He should do his term and leave,” Nagenda said.

The presidential advisor insisted that no one would beat president Museveni if he decided to stand again, but he is against his continued stay and he should now chose to play a role outside the presidential seat, since the National Resistance Movement is still strong enough to keep leading the country with him at the helm as an ex-official.

“The Movement (NRM) is still very strong, let no one think otherwise. I believe the next President (besides Museveni) will come from the NRM.”

Nagenda however opined there would be catastrophe should Museveni leave power without pointing to a successor ‘who would be able to listen to him’, adding that he would not mind if the Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi were 'strong' enough to steer a transition for the next five years.

"Ssekandi is a Muganda and catholic. if he were strong enough, he would be the one to take over."

The Rise of Bobi Wine

When asked about the rise of Bobi Wine and the People Power pressure group, Nagenda dismissed as ‘rubbish and wishful thinking’ any thought that Bobi Wine would anchor himself into power.

"If he (Bobi Wine) won over NRM Power, well good luck to him, but that wont happen, it would disastrous to happen."

He however said the wave brought by Bobi Wine is very good to keep people on their toes, especially the ruling NRM.

Any thinking person who is seriously calls himself such, to think that Bobi Wine, who by the way is a very well spoken, intelligent, would run the country must be mad. May be he starts practicing now and in 20 years, who knows!”

“I like Bobi Wine so much and I was disappointed and annoyed with the way he was treated but if at this point that is somebody you think at this time in life can be president, then you should be taken to our resting place for mad people,” he added.

Nagenda claimed that people power has no chance because the National Resistance Movement is the actual people power with the ability to drive the direction of the country and decide who becomes president or not.

“People power is what we have, the NRM has more people than any body else, so they choose the people. What is Bobi Wine’s party?”

“Wishful thinking does not put you in power. People power is in the Movement (NRM). If you go to the countryside, what do they say? I don’t want to spend my time on rubbish saying yeah there is a growing thing people want to replace Museveni, but what about NRM?”

“People may be willing to replace Museveni but not the NRM. Can you believe yourself when you wake up and look in the mirror then imagine that people would choose Bobi Wine over Museveni?” he posed.

Nagenda also weighed in on different political parties and how they stand in the quest for power, citing that Besigye’s FDC is the closest force to power but has been weakened by the recent massive desertions.

“The one for Besigye is a strong wave but of recent it is being deserted by people. Then DP for some reason has never been ready to take over.”

He said people can go fantasise about presidency just like Bobi Wine is doing but there is no chance that the NRM will relinquish power anytime soon.
