VIDEO: Three gunmen put out of action in Jinja

The Police flying squad has shot dead three suspected gunmen along Masese road in Jinja.

The three gunmen who were moving in a Totoya Premio vehicle, registration number UAP 449S from Jinja town heading towards Masese landing site, were intercepted by police and a cross fire ensued, lasting for several minutes.

“The officers came following the car with robbers at high speed, the jumped out and started firing at the car instantly and unceasingly. We then saw people run out of the Premio and whoever came out was shot down,” an eye witness said.

The residents claim the officers who gunned down the suspected armed robbers were in civilian attire and were about five of them.

Police recovered an Ak-47 rifle from the Premio, while the deceased have been taken to Jinja Hospital for postmortem.

Two days ago, Police in Jinja arrested 89 people in an operation carried out in and around Jinja Town.

The operation follows the discovery of the body of an unidentified man that dumped at Ripon Gardens.
