Vipers return Golola as coach

Vipers Sports Club have returned former coach Edward Golola this time round as one of the interim coaches at the Kitende based club, the Nile Post has learnt.

The Uganda Premier League defending champions last week appointed Kenyan tactician Michael Ouma as their interim coach after sacking their Mexican coach Javier Matinez Espinoza.

On Sunday, the club officially announced that Golola, will be part of the team’s five man interim technical team to manage Vipers Sports Club.

The soft spoken lad will be taking charge of the Venoms for his third spell as the assistant coach and upon completing his return, he promised to offer a different approach.

“I am happy to be back where l belong and l think it it like the beginning of a new era. Do l have a different personality? No, but for sure l have a different approach and perspective.” he said.

Golola believes Vipers SC has always been part of his life and feels he wants to extend his successful journey with the Venoms.

“I am where l want to be because my career has been built and raised on success. I was able to achieve success and win trophies with this team. I have to believe in that. I am back because we feel we are in the best moments though have a little meltdown which we are going to work on and am ready to work together again with anyone to help this club succeed again,” he indicated.

Golola has been influential in all the three league titles that Vipers SC has with two coming when he was the head coach (2009/10 and 2014/15) and the other as an assistant to Miguel Da Costa last season.

He will be working closely with Kenyan Michael Nam Ouma, Moses Oloya as the goalkeeping coach, Edward Ssali as the team trainer while Ram Nyakana Mpuga as the strength and conditioning coach.

His first game in charge of the team will be against tricky side Onduparaka FC at home in Kitende on Tuesday.
