While speaking to the press on Thursday 27th at FUFA house Mengo, Magogo termed this as one of the greatest achievements of FUFA in the development of the game. He went on highlighting other key achievements of the federation that included Uganda Cranes return to AFCON, the Uganda Cubs (U-17) qualifying for the AFCON U17 tournament, about 10billion shillings government sponsorship package, KCCA FC playing in the CAF champions league for the first time, Uganda and Onyango being nominated in the CAF awards and now Sand Cranes having an automatic place in the 2020 AFCON Beach tournament plus a successful Drum tournament.

"I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the growth of the game, we have registered many achievements in 2018 and many more still counting, Uganda was confirmed as the 2020 AFCON beach soccer championships hosts giving the sand cranes an automatic qualification for the first time," said the FUFA president, Moses Magogo.

The national team returned to the biggest football showpiece for the second time in style, topping group L without conceeding a goal, Uganda cubs qualified for the AFCON U-17 tournament that will be played later this year, the cranes and Onyango were nominated for the CAF awards for the second time, we now have 20 corporate companies injecting money in football, including about 10 billion shillings sponsorship package and many more achievements that we as a federation are proud of." Magogo added.

In the same address the president also noted the low moments of 2018 that included the U20 failing to go past South Sudan in the Africa U20 cup of nations.

Magogo now turns focus to 2019 where the federation has plans to work upon the governance, national team’s remuneration, infrastructure, development, marketing and communications, finance, memberships and introducing a new tournament for primary schools around the country.

"We shall introduce a new competition, a tournament for all primary schools around the country until we reach national champion of the primary school competition," Magogo stated.

Several strides have been made in ugandan football in 2018 and hope is that next year it will only get better.
