The Uganda Police Bus that had Sunday gone missing has

finally been found in Mityana, impounded and its driver Geoffrey Mwase

arrested.

According to a statement from Police, the bus Reg No: UP

5484, Higar make, Police Blue (color) was intercepted at Morgana Petrol

Station in Mityana District last night by police officers on duty, but its

registration plate had been plucked off.

According to the Deputy Police Spokesperson, Patrick

Onyango, the bus was still in its proper condition and not dismantled.

"The driver had just driven it to the village to enjoy Christmas with it and show off to village mates," he said.

"The driver will be charged with disobedience of lawful

orders before our disciplinary court,"Onyango added.

Police mouthpiece, Emilian Kayima also confirmed the driver

of the bus has been arrested and will be investigated accordingly.

“The driver was carrying out personal errands, far from what

duty called him to do. And he has been arrested and bus impounded. He will

accordingly be investigated.”

A Nile Post reader, Ronnie Hakiza claims that he saw the bus

loading people in Katanga on the very night it was allegedly stolen. He maintains

that during the process, certain police officers were besides the bus guiding

passengers onto the bus.

“But I saw that very bus loading people near Aryan

Hostel(formerly Akamwesi) in Katanga, Wandegeya on that very night when you say

it was stolen, and it had some police men watching the people embark onto the

said bus.”
