Arua: Police arrests 30 after a spate of killings

Aua-Police together with security agencies arrested over 30 people in a raid that was conducted yesterday night in Nsambya Cell, Awindiri Ward, Arua Hill Division.

The arrested youths are believed to be part of one of the 11 criminal gangs called Cambodia, that are causing mayhem in the municipality.

This came in response to a series of attacks on business people orchestrated by armed robbers.

A renowned business man, in Nsambya, Amati Rasul was killed on Sunday night in cold blood by the assailants who were travelling in a saloon car.

The security authorities say that they lost a gun at the beginning of this month and it was taken from an officer who was on duty, manning the Electoral Commission Office and he is now behind bars as investigation into the matter proceeds.

The security authorities believe that it’s this gun that is use to cause instability and they say that they are looking at a bigger picture trying to exhaust all possible ways to recover any guns in the hands of wrong doers.

Residents are urged to be vigilant and cooperate with the security in the area to make sure that sanity is restored in Arua ahead of the festive season This has compelled the Police and the army to intensify on the patrols done during day and night.

In June, this year, similar events happened when a UPDF officer was killed and his gun taken and three other people were killed in the same night including a cashier at Buddies night Club and two people who were travelling on a boda boda.
