Cindy in Studio with Ziggy D

Dancehall king Cindy Sanyu has been in studio with another dancehall legend, Ziggy D.

News reaching the Nile Post desk is that Cindy is recording new music with popular Scotland unit, Mungo’s Hi Fi at Muyenga based East African Records. The group from Scotland was in town for a concert that featured various reggae acts as well as Kenya’s Nazizi.

Cindy attended the concert at The Square in industrial area and by the end of the night, East African Records director David Cecil, Mungo’s Hi Fi and Cindy’s management had agreed to work together.

Mungo’s Hi Fi was already recording with some Ugandan artists including Ziggy D, who we hear is working on his comeback, and it is during a studio session with the two artists that all parties decided to work together.

We reached out to Cindy for the scoop and she said, “I’m so excited to be working with East African Records, I didn’t know them until the Mungo’s Hi Fi concert which we had recently, so I’m excited. I’ve listened to their concept and their plans for East African music, especially East African music going global, that, I’m excited about as an artist, I also got to meet Tom, one of the best producers in the world, the way he fuses African beats and makes them urban is mind blowing so I’m excited to be working with him on a few tracks. I got to listen to what he did with Ziggy D’s worldwide hit, mic ya Ziggy D, and I can’t believe what he did on it.”

When we inquired about the rumor of a possible partnership between Cindy and Ziggy D, Cindy said, “Ziggy D just asked me to do something on the track, that’s a good opportunity for me to work with a living legend because that’s how much I respect Ziggy D. So generally my experience with East African Records has been awesome.”
