Certain people in gov’t blocking FUFA officials from accessing Janet Museveni- Magogo

Federation of Uganda Football’s Associations’ President, Moses Magogo claims that certain government officials have deliberately blocked him and other FUFA delegates from accessing the First Lady who doubles as the Minister for Education and Sports.

Magogo insists that the Federation has made all effort to reach out to the Minister but certain people have worked against this. He says in just two years and half, FUFA has written over seven letters requesting to get in touch with the Janet Museveni but none has been replied or even acknowledged to be received.

Magogo was addressing journalists in Kampala for the first time since the National team- The Cranes qualified for the Cameroon 2019 AFCON championships.

“There are certain people who have worked so hard to ensure we meet her (Janet Museveni) and yet there are others who have worked tirelessly to ensure we don’t meet her at all. We have written over seven letters to her but no response,” he said.

Magogo wondered why it would be so hard to meet the Minister of Education and Sports whose docket directly handles FUFA, yet they can easily access her husband, President Museveni.

There have been general concerns from several people who claim meeting the First Lady is harder than anything in the country as those close to her keep on wading away people interested in meeting her.

It should also be noted that The Cranes with Magogo have met the First Lady but all this has been in the presence and at the invitation of President Museveni.

The FUFA president also decried what he labelled as ‘unnecessary propaganda from specific people towards the Federation’

“There is no reason for creating unnecessary propaganda, we have done wrong things, we want to be criticised.”

He also revealed the national team was given Shs 375m for qualifying for the AFCON2019, which he said would go towards whoever contributed to the Uganda Cranes AFCON project.

Magogo now says it is high time they concentrated on qualifying for the world cup, since the AFCON is proving possible now.
