Rally Drivers and MX riders join Lwakataka as he fundraises for new Rally Car

Rally ace Ponsiano Lwakataka will take his fundraising campaign to Busiika on the 25th of November as the embattled driver continues to solicit funds for a brand new Subaru N12.

In what has been dubbed the Motor Cross championship grand finale and fundraising sprint, Lwakataka has attracted some of the country’s biggest names in motor sport who will face off in the season ender this Sunday starting at midday.

Among the key names who have conformed participation are national motor cross stars Arthur Blick and Ronald Sebuguzi, plus MX’s duo of Maxim Van Pee and Fortune Ssentamu among others.

The two-time national Rally champion is amazed by the support from fellow sportsmen.

“I want to thank every one who has helped me in my quest to find a new car. Most of the people here have not asked for a single penny but are doing this in the spirit of sportsmanship”.

FMU president Dusman Okee endorsed the sprint and highlighted Lwakataka’s contribution to the sport.

“I commend every one who has supported Lwakataka in this cause. If Lwakataka gets a new car, that will be a victory for Motor Cross and I call upon all Ugandans to turn up for the event”.

The event will also serve as a graduation for young MX rider Fortune Ssentamu who will cruise on an 85 cc bike for last time before upgrading to 125cc.

Sentamu revealed to Nile Post that he anticipates a smooth ride next Sunday is exited by the upcoming 125 cc challenge.

‘I have no competition in the 85 cc category therefore on Sunday, I expect no competition. I am excited about the upgrading to 125 cc because that will be an improved bike and that means I will even be more competitive”

Lwakataka whose Subaru N10 has aged needs close to 200 million to buy a brand new Subaru N12 as he starts his quest for a third national Rally Championship title having won in 2005 and 2007.

The Masaka Born driver has for over 17 years been the poster boy of Ugandan Motor Sport but after almost two years of battling court cases and doing time inside the coffers, Ponsiano Lwakataka wants to make a grand return to the sport that made him a house hold name.
