Arua locals burn KK bus to ashes for knocking dead colleague

Police in Arua is investigating circumstances under which locals burnt a bus belonging to KK coaches for knocking allegedly dead their colleague.

According to the West Nile Region police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Josephine Angucia, the incident happened on Thursday night at Enzeva area, Arivu sub- County in Arua district.

“At around 10PM, the bus coming from Koboko to Kampala knocked dead a person but as the driver and conductor tried to run away from the scene, the latter was apprehended and beaten by angry locals,”Angucia said.

“The locals turned to the bus and set it on fire together with its luggage.”

She added that so far no one has been arrested over the incident but noted that investigations are still ongoing.

In September, a motorist survived being burnt from his after he allegedly hit a taxi driver with a hoe on the head.

The incident that happened in Nansana started when Gerald Kayondo’s Toyota  Prado registration number UAM 617D that was parked on the road side  was accidentally scratched by a taxi  prompting the two to get involved in a verbal exchange.

It is said that Kayondo then pulled out a hoe from his Prado and hit the taxi driver on the head prompting angry residents and taxi operators to pounce on him.

He was saved by police but his Toyota Prado vehicle didn’t survive after it was torched by the angry mob.
