Cranes starts training ahead of Cape Verde duel

Uganda Cranes team has kicked off training ahead of their group L return leg game against Cape Verde in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers.

The game is set for Saturday at Namboole.

The team  was on Saturday taken through  their paces  as they entered the second day of their non residential training at the StarTimes stadium at Lugogo with mostly local based players and a few foreign ones.

Among the foreign players who graced the Saturday training included Denis Iguma, Nicholas Wadada, Hassan Wasswa, Murushid Juuko and Emmanuel Okwi.

“We are going to do anything possible to ensure we win the game and get maximum points,” Denis Iguma said on Saturday.

“We know they are not an easy team but this is our life and we have to fight for it. It means a lot for us.”

The team will enter residential camp on Monday as the team fights to earn just one point for Uganda to return to the African Nations Cup finals to be played in Cameroon next year.

Uganda is top of group L with 10 points out of four games with Tanzania sitting in the second position with a meagre five points from the same number of games.

The top two nations in the 12 groups will automatically qualify for AFCON finals which will be the first since the tournament was expanded from 16 to 24 teams.
