Nazizi on new music and upcoming Ugandan concert

Nazizi needs no introduction to music lovers. The Kenyan reggae and dancehall sensation is a third of Necessary Noize, one of East Africa’s biggest reggae groups.

After going off the scene for a while, Nazizi Hirji is back with Love Automatic remix, whose original version was released in 2015.

The song’s new rhythm was built by the UK reggae unit, Mungo’s Hi Fi and was produced by East African Records in Kampala.

The new version of Love Automatic comes with a cheeky and playful animated video in which Nazizi drives through some major cities and towns across East Africa. Entebbe and Kampala feature later in the video, and if you look closely you can see plenty faces from Uganda’s entertainment scene rise out of the city skyline.

‘It was an honor working with Mungo’s Hi Fi especially on love automatic remix. They brought such an interesting vibe to an old song. I look forward to the Uganda concert and to playing with them as we last played in 2015 in Nairobi. So all music lovers should come out and support on 9th November at the Square, and 10th November in Jinja,” Nazizi says.

On working with Nazizi, East African Records director David Cecil says, “Besides being extremely talented, Nazizi is an artist who can appeal to an international audience, with her mix of Swahili and English. She’s also got a strong musical background with a deeper understanding of reggae than most artists in the region. She knows good production too and she herself was clearly a fan of Mungo’s Hi Fi style as soon as she heard it.”

Nazizi will be in Kampala for the Mungo’s Hi Fi featuring Eva Lazarus concert that is happening on 9th November at the Square in Industrial Area and in Jinja on 10th November at PIT STOP.
