PM Rugunda challenges SDG Agenda to move from paper to action

The Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda has called upon relevant actors in the 2030 sustainable development goal agenda to domesticate and localize it because by and large most people remain unaware of the global goal.

Rugunda was flagging off the roadmap of the 17 outlined sustainable development goals that were launched in 2015 by the United Nations.

To flag off the framework, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda challenged the stakeholders to move the conversation from paper to action.

The roadmap was prepared through consultative processes involving government agencies, private sector civil society and development partners.

Rosa Malango, the UNDP resident coordinator, noted that Uganda has made significant efforts since adopting the 2015 sustainable development goal agenda.

Despite this achievement, there has been shortfalls that need to be addressed.

Joakim Parker, the USAID mission director, however said that shortfalls in the health and education sector, failure to fully utilize the private sector and gaps in accountability continue to raise concern among development partners.
