Suspected Bomb explosion in classroom shatters pupil’s hand, injures another

Two pupils have been injured after a suspected bomb exploded in their classroom, Thursday morning.

The explosion happened at 7:30am in the primary seven classroom at Mother Care Bright School in Maganjo, a Kampala suburb.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire the explosion injured two pupils, who have been rushed to Mulago hospital for medical attention.

The injured are; Igembe ASshraf, 13 years, whose hand was shattered while Namakula Ronitah, also aged 13 years was injured in the eye.

“The boy's hand was shattered as a result of the explosion and the girls eye is slightly injured , the cause was as a result of Playing with un identified item which is yet to be established by Police Experts from Bomb squad,” Owoyesigyire said.

“We have also established that the un identified object was brought into the school by Kasoozi Abdul 12 years, also a pupil after he picked it yesterday on his way home the later carried it to school today,” he added.

He however informs that experts from the responsible department have picked fragments for further analysis and investigations.
