Shs100m Ghetto money didn’t reach us- Kamwokya youth

A section of youth in Kamwokya claim that the Shs100m given to youth clubs in the area by President Museveni just last week, has never reached them but rather was diverted by certain officials.

The group also accuse those in charge of registering the wrong Youth clubs instead of channeling the money to its target.

“I am one of the people who didn’t get that money because the groups that were registered were for already well off people. It is rich people that benefited, not us the poor youth,” one of the youth said.

The you claim that none of the ghetto people got a single penny from the money but rather anonymous people claiming to be in charge of certain groups.

These also claim that they were called to register their names prior to the cash bonanza, but after the money was issued, they never saw people who had earlier asked for their names.

This follows another scenario in Kanyanya where a milk cooler donated to a business group by President Museveni allegedly went missing.

While delivering working tools, money and other items to specific areas in Kampala last month, youth beat Musevni’s security and reported to him that the items he was donating to them publicly were for the camera, as officials would disappear with them as soon as the President gets onto his convoy.

Museveni would later register their complaints and promised to get back to them.

An official from the President's office, who preferred anonymity dismissed the claims by the youth, adding that some of them were expecting they would give them each for personal use.

"The money is for investment and clubs, in fact we shall arrest whoever misuses that money. It is not for people to get a share each so they enjoy it," he said.
